COVID-19 UPDATE – 17 Mar 2020
Member update from Royston Tuesday, 17 March 2020
As we are all aware, the corona journey took a huge twist yesterday when the Prime Minister announced the latest action that we should all follow to curb the spread of the virus. I fully support the measures taken. Protecting the nation’s health and well being is, quite rightly, any government’s number one priority and we must all follow their advice and stay safe.
Given that the virus is in its absolute infancy in Plymouth, for those of you who are fit and healthy the club shall remain open for the time being. This is being reviewed on a daily basis. Should you show any symptoms, please do not attend.
We are continuously cleaning all touchable surfaces throughout the club and we would respectfully request that you thoroughly wash your hands on entry.
For over 30 years I have run Fort Stamford, providing a facility in which you, my members, have been able to get and stay fit, and healthy. For many, it is not just the exercise aspects that the club offers, but the social interaction it also provides. My number one priority is to ensure that there is a club for us all to return to when things settle down, but I will need help. The government will announce shortly the details behind their promise to support businesses over the period and when they do, I’ll be in a better position to report back to you how we can move forward.
I have received hundreds of enquiries, from members concerning their membership, many of whom I am heartened to hear are happy to continue with their subscriptions whilst choosing to self-isolate. An unbelievable response.
Thank you for your continued support.
