Children’s Squash Activities at Fort Stamford
Multi-Skills is where most children of younger years first get introduced to racket sports. This club attracts children of Primary School age and runs on a Tuesday and Thursday after school. Sessions are for an hour. You can expect your child to learn skills such as bouncing, catching, rolling and racket-to-ball coordination skills in a fun, progressive way.
Junior squash for kids (red group) starts at 9.15am for beginners and lasts for 45 minutes. The cost is just £4.00. A team of coaches introduce the racket and ball coordination skills needed to play the game and as the ability levels improve, so the children move up into the next group at 10am, the cost being only £4.00 Typically, children start to play at about 9 years of age although there are young talented exceptions. The 10 o’clock session (orange group) introduces more of the game to the children by way of additional coaching and matches. We also run a third session (green group) for more able players at 11am and this session is only £4.00. A Junior squash League provides a platform for competitive matches to be played. Children are typically of secondary school age.
Thursday after School
There is now a Thursday after school sessions available for orange and green groups (red coming soon). Orange 3.45pm – 4.45pm and green 4.45pm – 6pm. Thursdays will be limited to smaller groups, with more training and fewer games, where Saturdays will focus on a little bit of training but more games. Please book at reception for Thursdays (cost £4).
Private coaching is available with Steve Mooney throughout the week. Individual coaching is beneficial for those players really wanting to improve as you can work on areas specific to that player. Please contact Steve for more information on private 1-2-1 coaching.
Please contact Steve Mooney on 07534387763 to discuss your child’s ability and get them booked into the correct lesson. Steve can also give you advice about your child playing racketball if preferred.
